Highlights
The character of this event is light adventure, meaning roads for the most part are paved. However one should expect and embrace the opportunity to explore and ride well surfaced but unpaved plantation roads, engaging the friendly locals of this peaceful little country. This is a riding holiday so the pace is moderate and invites freedom and enjoyment for both single riders and couples.

Costa Rica is a paradise, rich in wildlife and natural beauty. The admirable statistics will amaze you; over 25% of the country is national park or nature reserves, the country has a higher literacy rate than the USA, has no standing army and when asked "how are you doing", the universal reply in Costa Rica speak is ..."pura vida", the pure life! That says it all.

The Central Highlands rise above San Jose, the Capital. There is a maze of narrow country roads, small villages and plantations. Lush green coffee fincas climb steeply up gentle rolling hills. Getting lost is actually a treat and an invitation to meet the Tico people who genuinely welcome visitors. Pull out your map and you are sure to have someone offer aid often with an invite for cup of rich Costa Rican coffee.

The rumbling of Arenal Volcano often seen at night spewing fiery molten lava is a sight to behold. With howler monkeys roaring in the nearby jungles, the night is alive with nature's activities. Two nights here permit time to sooth your body in the warm waters of Tabacon hot springs, take a horse back excursion, explore rural roads by motorcycle or just relax.

The Osa Peninsula sets on the Pacific at the southern reaches of the country near Panama is quite possibly the most beautiful region in the country. With pristine rain forests, sprawling beaches and abundant wildlife, this is a paradise, made even more so with stays in jungle lodges that are extremely accommodating yet authentic and stylish. For nature lovers it doesn't get any better.

Service. We first inaugurated motorcycle tours in Costa Rica in 1988, have collected a wealth of knowledge on the country and have the kind of local relationships that translate to the best in care and service. From the moment you are welcomed at Juan Santa Maria Airport (SJO) in San Jose, you'll know you are in good hands. Our carefully selected accommodations are authentically "tico", close to nature and romantic, often following the highest eco standards.

What is the Green Season? Well it is the time when the countryside becomes invigorated with cooling and brief occasional showers. Between the dry season and the monsoons, this can be the ideal time to come to Costa Rica. Flowers bloom and wildlife comes alive everywhere, the tourist hordes diminish and for MotoDiscovery travelers, the opportunity presents itself for special shoulder season pricing.
