Ride Conditions This tour is a mix of paved and unpaved roads however heavily biased to touring off road and demands a dual purpose (on-off road) motorcycle equipped with tires having a more aggressive tread pattern for off road traction. Prior off road riding experience is essential. No single track. In addition to prior off road riding experience the riders physical condition, riding skills, and tolerance to more primitive and possibly unpredictable travel scenarios may be tested.
HighlightsReál de Catorce is a step back in time, reminiscent of the altiplano of Bolivia, we access it by riding through a 1.5 miles long tunnel that burrows through a high mountain opening up into a bowl like canyon to the town. It was all but abandoned when we first discovered it over thirty years ago, but it is now experiencing a revival. Huichole Indians have trekked here from great distances for centuries as this is a holy place where peyote can be found for ceremonial and religious celebrations. Two nights here will allow time for exploration of impressive mining ghost towns.
The Road to Reál Expedition is one of exceptional natural beauty, moments of challenge, and encounters with a friendly rural population. The itinerary changes almost with every tour as we discover amazing new roads.
