The El Diablo
This tour is named after one of Mexico's fabled roads, the Devil's Backbone (Espinazo del Diablo). This 150 mile paved road snakes from the fun beach resort city of Mazatlan on the Pacific and climbs though the lush green tropics to cool pine forests. HighlightsThis tour is about experiencing some of Mexico's best roads. The ride begins in cruising mode down the west coast through the Sonora desert and some of Mexico's most fertile agricultural lands. Arriving Mazatlan for three days to take in the fun of the Pacific, the route heads East across the jaw dropping Sierra Madre through the legendary Spine of the Devil (Expinazo del Diablo). North through the Chihuahua desert you again connect with the Sierra Madres and take on the Gran Vision, a lightly traveled scenic access route to the famous Copper Canyon country.
Alamos is a Colonial era gem, one of only a handful of official Mexico Colonial Monuments, it is preserved in its 18th century glory, a small village, popular retreat for a handful of "gringos" with a fascinating history.
Mazatlan. It may be a resort but this is a place of pure Mexican character. Unlike most of Mexico's "fabricated" resort scenes, Mazatlan enjoys a deep history as a once Spanish port. The native Mazatelco people are proud of there heritage and project a happy and welcoming vibe. Three days? Sport fishing, optional rides up the coast, hitting the native market, taking in some nightlife, a time to unwind; there is no better place to enjoy the sea. Naturally we'll be staying right on the beach.
The Copper Canyon has long been a MotoDiscovery highlight on numerous tours. Imagine a canyon complex four times greater in size than the Grand Canyon, inhabited by a cave dwelling Indian tribe, and conveniently sliced by a ribbon of lightly traveled paved roads..motorcycling nirvana!
