Ride Conditions This tour is a mix of paved and unpaved roads however heavily biased to touring off road and demands a dual purpose (on-off road) motorcycle equipped with tires having a more aggressive tread pattern for off road traction. Prior off road riding experience is essential. No single track. In addition to prior off road riding experience the riders physical condition, riding skills, and tolerance to more primitive and possibly unpredictable travel scenarios may be tested.
HighlightsThe Copper Canyon was barely accessible when we first began exploring the region over three decades ago. Over the years, paved roads have made their way through this vast region, a complex actually made up of a series of high mesas, steep canyons and river gorges. Home to a remarkable indigenous group of Indians called the Tarahumara, we have a special connection with this region and feel a commitment to make sure your experience is more than just about a good ride.
Getting dirty is a thrill as we descend into the canyon of Batopilas and the village of the same name. Mining was prominent here in the 1800's and little has changed in this riverside village. The views are breathtaking with moments of challenge; this is what adventure touring is all about. This tour is the ideal first step to more advanced and challenging MotoDiscovery South America Expeditions.
