Ride Conditions This tour is likely to involve at least some unpaved surfaces that can be navigated easily by cars and other vehicles. Dual purpose (on-off road) motorcycles are most suitable for this environment and having prior off road riding experience is suggested. No single track.
HighlightsMachu Picchu. This breath taking archeological sight escaped the destructive wave of Spanish Conquistadors, hidden atop a pinnacle peak where the Andes meet the Amazon Jungle. Built in the 14th century, the meticulous stone construction even now is baffling to all who question the engineering genius.
Nazca Lines are mysterious geoglyphs carved into the desert floor thousands of years ago. The interpretation of who was responsible for and why miles of animal figures and lines of such geometric precision exist in this corner of Peru has fueled many theories but few answers. Are they inspirations from interplanetary visitors? Could be!
Arequipa. After your arrival in Lima we will take a quick flight to Arequipa where your riding journey begins. This Spanish Colonial city is charming and you will have time to walk the streets and explore.
The Canyon of Colca provides you a venue for an aerial performance of giant condors as they catch morning thermals and glide to heights overlooking the Andes.
Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the world at 12,500 feet and known for its floating reed islands and colorful native inhabitants.
Walking the cobble stoned streets of Cuzco you will see and feel the integration of Colonial Spanish influences with that of the ancient Inca. The Inca built this city beginning in the 11th century and considered this place the center of their universe.
Urubamba. We choose to spend two nights in this valley that serves as the launching point where the group boards the train for a day excursion to Machu Picchu. The scenery is stunning, a photographers treasure!
MotoDiscovery has selected outstanding accommodations that will be the perfect finale of each days ride. This may be an adventure experience but it need not be uncomfortable. You'll be staying in the best!
We mention the Tenere 660cc as a highlight because it is possibly the best motorcycle for exploring the region. Plentiful power, highly reliable, adaptable to both paved and unpaved surfaces, it is a legendary mount in the world of adventure riders that unfortunately has yet to reach the shores of the USA. Its bigger sibling, the Super Tenere 1199cc will be available in limited quantities as an option.
Service. Remember our roots are in Latin America where a genuine and caring welcome is inherent, where serving others is a pleasure and an honor...and fun! It is the Latin way. It is the MotoDiscovery difference that will make this more than just a motorcycle ride.
