The combination of the Canyonlands of Utah and the Rocky Mountains of Colorado in a single riding event will be of strong interest to those who have more time. European riders who traditionally enjoy lengthy end of summer vacations (as well as a most favorable exchange rate) will find our single Best of the American Southwest Expedition to be timely. Southern hemisphere riders can consider this a break from their austral winter. Only one date so early reservations are recommended.

Highlights

  • This event begins in Durango, Colorado. Within minutes once can be experiencing the breath taking Alpine beauty of the Rocky Mountains. Convenience combined with Adventure in Style makes for one great riding vacation.
  • This event requires that you have had some off road riding experience as one can expect moments of challenge. Alternative routes and activities can be suggested for riders who may find themselves in conditions that exceed their skill levels.
  • Riders can count on traversing a number of off road mountain passes in excess of 12,000 feet.
  • Near Durango, the cliff dwellings of the Ancestral Pueblo peoples (600 -1300 A.D.) at Mesa Verde National Park will be a window into the lives of America’s first inhabitants.
  • The Colorado Gold rush of 1859 spawned the migration of adventurous fortune seekers, the creation of the railroad, the birth of a state and some of the best mountain roads for dual purpose motorcycling you’ll find anywhere. Old mining trails will take you to great heights. At 11,200 feet Animas Forks is but one secluded ghost town that you will explore.
  • The old west town of Silverton is the rail head of the popular Durango- Silverton Railway. This one street relic from the Colorado Gold rush will be your hub of exploration throughout the surrounding San Juan Mountains. Engineer Pass and Cinnamon Pass are the buzz words that make up what is often referred to as the Alpine Loop.
  • Ouray is another Colorado gem, a National Historic District with a population a bit over 800, thermal hot springs and a mining heritage.
  • Telluride has gained international awareness as the arts center of the Rocky Mountains and for its constant schedule of out door events. Only twelve blocks long and six blocks side, this will be a fun as well as beautiful stop surrounded by majestic 13,000 foot peaks.
  • This event will have a limit of 12 motorcycles. This ride is also the perfect platform for a custom designed tour. Contact MotoDiscovery on how we can prepare the perfect ride for you, your family and friends. Looking for a father & son bonding experience? It won’t get any better than this!
  • Canyonlands National Park is 527 square miles of raw beauty, blessed with over 300 days of sunshine a year. The White Rim is one of America’s epic rides and certainly will be a highlight of this MotoDiscovery expedition.
  • Arches National Park has over 2,000 sandstone arches, the highest density of these naturally occurring formations in the world.
  • Adventure in Style will hold true on this riding event as we have selected memorable accommodations. Leave your sleeping bags at home! MotoDiscovery style means some fun dining too so bring an appetite.
  • You may ride your own dual sport motorcycle or rent an expedition prepared machine from our fleet.
  • Moab will be your three night hub of activities. Worldwide this town is known as an active outdoor recreation center and for its thriving art community.  Moab promises to offer opportunities for exceptional riding as well as other pursuits such as river rafting, bicycling or just relaxing. You will appreciate the flexible nature of this event where the ride is just part of the fun.
