Is this a good tour for couples?
Yes. You will definitely want to share this experience with your loved one. It is not without its adventure qualities however it is a romantic journey that is well paced with multiple two night stops and a moderate pace.
Is it safe?
Millions travel to Peru each season. The Peruvian people are known for their friendliness and the country is politically stable. Motorcycling and international travel have their risks however this event should concern you no more or less than any adventure of this character.
How are the roads?
Expect everything from broad divided highways to narrow two lane country roads. The surfaces will vary and you should expect at least a rare unpaved section that is easily traveled and well maintained. The motorcycles are all of the “dual purpose” style and will serve you well in this environment.
What about altitude?
You will be traveling up to the 12,000 ft range. By intent we hope to gently get you to higher elevations. You may want to arrive at least one day early in Arequipa (7,200 ft). Altitude affects everyone differently, or not at all. Consult with your physicians as there are over the counter as well as prescribed medications that address this issue and we’ll provide hints on how to holistically address this.
What can we expect in accommodations?
This is not a budget tour. Staying in fine accommodations is a MotoDiscovery tradition. While this is a light adventure, you will find overnight stays to be above average seeking out the best wherever we travel. You will not be disappointed.
What about the food?
Foodies may already know this but Peru is gaining international fame for its cuisine. The fusion of Asian and Peruvian cuisines has become a common offering. Because fine dining is a MotoDiscovery essential, you will appreciate our a la carte approach. We don’t cut corners here.
What can you tell me about the flights?
Airfare is not included. Your international flight will have you arriving in Lima, Peru and you may want to consider an overnight there before forwarding to Arequipa. You can also land in Lima and then fly to Arequipa the same day. The flight from Lima to Arquipa is roughly two hours. We will offer consultation on this in our pre-tour information booklet.
Should I get trip interruption insurance?
More and more we are considering this a valuable preparation and should be carefully considered. With suppliers being very strict in their policies, MotoDiscovery has little choice but to maintain our own policies. If you are forced to cancel for any reason, you will be glad you had this protection.
What about Emergency medical and evacuation insurance?
We’re clear on this one. It is mandatory and should be considered an essential necessity of international travel. We will provide you with carriers and recommendations based on our experience or call us for more information.
When should I sign up?
PLEASE, make your reservation as soon as possible. A year in advance is not too soon. It is important for you to make a commitment in order that we can secure the best of hotels and services in this popular part of the world. Don’t delay!
I would like a private tour just for me and my friends. Can MotoDiscovery do this for me?
